James Travis "Jim" Reeves, born August 20, 1923 in Galloway, Texas, died July 31, 1964 in Williamson County, Tennessee (in a plane crash), was an American country artist, during the first half of the 1960s with his powerful baritone voice more popular than Elvis in South Africa, popular in India and Southeast Asia, where known by the epithet Gentleman Jim. Some of his most famous songs are "He'll Have to Go" (1960), "Adios Amigo" (1962), "I Will not Forget You" (1964).
